Momento Mori
02:39
|
|||
If every waking moment
Is a world all its own
a snapshot of existence
Like motion cast in stone
Illusion, Illustration
To build up, piece by piece
Into language, explanation
Morsels of a feast
If every sentence spoken
Is a life unto itself
Soul and anguish burdened
Gasping for a breath
To give back to the listener
A message, an idea
A light to guide us along
An experience to feel
And how does that feel? To know it's not real. To see that your life is just a culmination of the situations your body moves through as try to understand the joys and aggravations of the give and take, the will to make, the tempt to take. And all we do is take, take, take, take, take, take.

Don't It?
01:22
|
|||
Hey there honey-bee, what do you see lurking in the shadows between you and me?
Is it the same old trope, or a silly joke, or the answer to a question that nobody's asking?
Well if it's all of the above (and it is) then why don't we all just sing about love? Again and again until it's spread so thin that it doesn't exist,
Just like that bought and sold, blind happiness. So now we can all at least die with something.
But everything feels a whole lot like nothing, don't it?
Hey there honey-bee, what's there to believe if everybody's got their own prophecy?
Is it time to repent, or get real bent over every injustice that you've ever met?
Been told that you can't have it both ways, as if every day just ends up the same (hey!), but things are constantly changing; molecules rearranging.
Take a walk on the bright side, and quit your complaining; now we can all at least die with something.
But take a good hard look at nothing.

River City Jubilee
03:28
|
|||
Broken down, stoned and drunk
In Kansas City, watching that old
River move along
It takes with it the silt and runoff
Unimpeded, and without
Need of Song
But I write about it anyway
And I'm sure I'm not the first
To be taken by this situation
And to need to turn it into verse
Kindred spirits are these penmen
With the gamblers, buying their lives
From an unstoppable force
So Flow along old river
In the well worn words of the past
Words that ring true now as ever
Words to help make good times last

See Each Other
03:44
|
|||
You dont know what I know
And I don't know what you know
And it could be said that we are strangers
But I know that's not the answer
Cause I can see you in full color
And I believe we can see each other
There is a chance we're alive in simulation
Trapped here inside some great mind's elation
And you and I were made for each other
Two halves of a mind colliding together
And I can see you in full color
And I believe we can see each other
Here in this world, alive to our senses
Convinced that it's real, and taking our chances

That Boredom
02:51
|
|||
Suppose, for a moment, that everything's worth it
No need for discernment; your taste is obsolete
And imagine, now, someone so engrossed in that boredom
Could decide this or that in your absence
Of consciousness, of intention
Regardless of contrition
That may arise from losing grip on your world
It's the sort of thing that happens
Over time despite great chances
To achieve some sort of greatness on your terms
A series of transactions, mistakes, and inactions
Tear apart the only self you'll ever know
Woe, woe
