Belly up like a fish that's drowned in the air and light, and the noisy sounds of the people moving, wherever they go. The people moving, wherever they go. I can't quite reach, been reaching for days. Counting the hours, listing the ways that I let you down, and everyone else. I let you down like everyone else. And I'm starting to think that this is just the way it is. And I'm trying not to be all of the people everyone wants me to be. Not so sure what you want me to say. A laugh and a grin, giving away that it doesn't matter, and it never did. Doesn't matter so long as we're here. Hold on too tight just to let it crumble. Yell out the words, more like a mumble that you haven't heard what you thought I would say. Haven't heard, you threw it away. Slight of hand, a slip of the tongue. The things we thought when we were young aren't quite as true as we thought they were then. Not so true as they are in the end.
